Terms of service

Last updated: 25 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and us for your website. Come Recommended is a trading name of Spectra Media Group Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 11668950, VAT number GB311046852. Registered office: Queens House, Queens Road, Chester, CH1 3BQ.

In these terms:

  • "we" and "us" means Spectra Media Group Ltd;
  • "you" means the person, partnership or company that runs the business named on your go-live page;
  • "the owner" means the person who accepted these terms for you, or someone who replaces them, confirmed as section 3 explains;
  • "your go-live page" means the page where you checked your details, chose your options and accepted these terms.

Our service is for businesses. By agreeing to these terms you confirm you are acting for your trade or business, not as a private consumer.

If these terms and your go-live page disagree, your go-live page decides your price, dates and options, and these terms decide everything else.

The short version

  • We build your website, host it and keep it up to date when you message us changes.
  • If you start with a free period, nothing is taken until the date on your go-live page. After that it is £49 a month, VAT included, by Direct Debit.
  • Month to month, with no minimum term. Stop any month by messaging CANCEL.
  • Your own web address is registered in your name. If you leave, it is yours to take, free.
  • We never promise you a number of enquiries, calls or customers.

This summary is here to help. The numbered terms below are the agreement.

1. Before you go live

  • A preview of your website is free and you are under no obligation. Looking at it, claiming it or asking for changes does not start a contract.
  • An unpaid preview is paused after 14 days and deleted after 30 days, as our privacy notice explains.
  • This agreement starts when you tick to accept these terms on your go-live page and your Direct Debit is set up.
  • The person who accepts these terms confirms they are allowed to agree them for you.
  • We email you a copy of the exact terms you accepted, as a file you can keep, and we keep a record of which version applies to you.
  • Before your website goes live we run our own checks, including the name check in section 4. If we decide not to go ahead, this agreement ends and we refund everything you have paid.

2. What you get

For your monthly payment we:

  • build your website from your business's details, and host it on our servers in the UK;
  • put it live on our address (yourbusiness.comerecommended.co.uk) until your own web address takes over (section 7);
  • make changes you ask for by WhatsApp or text, with no limit in normal use. To stop misuse, the most is 200 change requests a month;
  • do one job a month that needs a person, of up to 20 minutes, such as a new page or a bigger rework (section 5 covers extra jobs);
  • keep the site secure, backed up and on a valid security certificate;
  • send you your website's numbers once a month.

We choose how your site is built and laid out, using our own design system. We may improve the design and the parts every website shares (for example security, speed and accessibility) for every client at once, without asking first. Those updates never change the facts about your business.

3. Changes by message

  • Send changes by WhatsApp or text from a number registered to your business. The owner's number is registered when you go live. The owner can add other numbers, each with the permissions the owner chooses, and remove them.
  • We treat a message from a registered number as coming from you. Tell us straight away if a number should be removed, for example when someone leaves.
  • A new owner is confirmed through the owner's current number, or, if that isn't possible, by a person at Come Recommended checking who runs the business.
  • If people disagree about who controls the business or its website (for example partners splitting up), we may pause changes until it is settled, and then act on what everyone involved agrees in writing, or what a court decides. For a company, we act on what its directors decide.
  • We read back the exact change you ask for before it goes live. It goes live only when you reply YES. UNDO puts back the version before. Your website changes without your YES only in these cases: the design updates in section 2; the footer credit in section 8; reviews shown automatically from a source you chose; moving your website onto your own web address in section 7; the holding page in section 6; takedowns in section 10; and taking your website down when the agreement ends in section 11.
  • Your phone number, business name and address are protected. They change only with confirmation from the owner's number, or after a person at Come Recommended has checked. A new phone number is also checked with a code sent to it.
  • We use AI to read your messages and to write and change your website's words. Our privacy notice names the supplier. The AI cannot publish anything without your YES, and some requests always go to a person.
  • Message PERSON at any time to reach a person. Message STOP to stop our messages, apart from notices about payments and this agreement, which we then send by email.
  • We may decline a change that would be unlawful, untrue, unsafe, or against these terms, and we will tell you why.
  • Putting right a mistake our system made is always free and never counts as one of your jobs.

4. Your details and what goes on your site

  • You are responsible for the facts on your website being true. You confirm each one on your go-live page, and again when you change it.
  • Please don't ask us to publish anything untrue or misleading, accreditations or memberships you don't hold, reviews that are fake or paid for, material you don't have the right to use, other people's personal details without their permission, or anything unlawful or defamatory.
  • When you send us photos, you confirm you have the right to use them, and that anyone shown in them is happy to appear. We never publish your customers' faces.
  • Reviews are published as written, with their date and who wrote them, and never edited.
  • We only show an accreditation once we have checked it on the scheme's own register.
  • Before your site goes live, we check the name on your Direct Debit against your business. If it doesn't match, a person checks before anything goes live. If we decide not to go ahead, this agreement ends and you get a full refund (section 1). This protects you from someone else taking over your website.

5. Prices and payment

All prices include VAT at the current rate. If the VAT rate changes, our prices change with it. Your go-live page shows the price and dates that apply to you.

WhatPriceWhen it is paid
Your website, monthly plan£49 a monthBy Direct Debit, monthly. With a free period, the first payment is on the date your free period ends
Your own web address registered today (optional)£10On your go-live page, by bank payment
Each extra job that needs a person, up to 20 minutes£25Quoted first and only done after you reply YES, then taken as a one-off payment by Direct Debit
  • Payments are collected by GoCardless and protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee. You get at least 3 working days' notice before any payment is taken, including a one-off payment for an extra job.
  • With a free period, nothing is taken before the date on your go-live page.
  • Your own web address today: the £10 is the price of registering your web address straight away, rather than when your first monthly payment clears. As a thank you, we take £10 off your first monthly payment, so that one is £39. If the name check in section 4 fails, we refund the £10 in full. If you cancel before your free period ends, the £10 is not refunded, and the web address stays registered in your name for the year.
  • If a payment is reversed under the Direct Debit Guarantee, the amount is still owed, unless it was taken in error.
  • We send receipts and invoices by email.
  • We may change our prices with at least 30 days' notice by message or email. You can cancel before the new price applies.

6. Missed payments

  • If a payment fails, we try once more about 5 working days later and let you know.
  • If your Direct Debit is cancelled by your bank, or a payment is still unpaid after 14 days, your website shows a holding page until it is sorted. We send you a link to set it up again.
  • If it is still unpaid after 60 days, we end this agreement and take your website down (section 11). Your web address stays yours.

7. Your web address

  • A new web address we register for you is registered in your name, with you as the owner on the official record. The .uk rules require the real owner to be named, and it means the address is yours, not ours.
  • We register it when your first monthly payment clears. If you chose your own web address today (section 5), we register it once that payment is confirmed and the name check has passed. Until then your website is live on our address, which then forwards visitors to yours.
  • While you are a client, we pay the yearly renewal and look after the address's settings for you. If you ask, we forward email sent to your new address to the inbox you already use. This forwarding receives email only.
  • Changes to the address's settings or email forwarding after it is set up are done by a person, as one of your jobs (section 2).
  • If you already have a web address, it stays with your current provider. We help you point it at your new website.
  • If you leave, the address is yours. We move it to any provider you choose, free of charge. If you don't ask us to move it, it stays registered in your name until its renewal date, and after that renewing it is up to you.

8. Who owns what

  • Yours: your business name, logo, photos, reviews and the facts about your business stay yours.
  • The words written for your website: we transfer to you any copyright we own in them, as each is written. Wording we use on every website (such as the legal footer and button labels) stays ours. If anything can't be transferred, you have a free, permanent licence to use it for your business, including after you leave.
  • Ours: the design, templates, code and systems your website runs on. While you are a client you may use them for your website. That permission ends when the agreement ends.
  • You give us permission to use what you send us, and the words we have transferred to you, to build, run and change your website, and for nothing else.
  • Your website carries a small "Website by Come Recommended" link in its footer. Apart from that, we won't use your website in our own marketing unless you say yes.
  • Come Recommended is a trade mark of Spectra Media Group Ltd.
  • We never sell your information.

9. Data protection

Our privacy notice explains how we use your own details.

When your customers contact you through your website (a quote form, a call or a WhatsApp tap), you decide how their details are used, and we handle them only for you, as your supplier. For that, the law calls you the controller and us the processor.

What we handle for you: the names, phone numbers, email addresses and messages of people who contact you through your website. We host, store and pass them to you, for as long as you are a client and then as our privacy notice sets out.

What we agree:

  • We use these details only on your instructions: to run your website and pass enquiries to you. You give that instruction by using our service. We do nothing else with them unless the law requires it, and if so we tell you first unless the law forbids it.
  • If we think an instruction from you breaks data protection law, we tell you straight away.
  • Everyone at Come Recommended who can see them is bound to keep them confidential.
  • We keep them secure, with measures suited to the risk.
  • We use the suppliers listed in our privacy notice, each under a written contract with the same protections. We tell you at least 30 days before adding or changing one, unless a supplier fails or a change is urgently needed for security, when we tell you as soon as we can. If you object on reasonable data protection grounds and we can't resolve it, you may end this agreement straight away, with a refund of anything paid for the time after.
  • Some of those suppliers process details outside the UK, for example in the USA. We only allow that with the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK's approved contract terms or the UK-US data bridge.
  • We help you answer requests from your customers about their details, and help you meet your duties on security, breaches and data protection impact assessments.
  • We tell you without undue delay if we find a breach affecting these details.
  • When the agreement ends we delete them, or give them to you first if you ask, unless the law requires us to keep them.
  • We give you the information you reasonably need to show we are keeping to this section, and allow audits and inspections by you or an auditor you choose, on reasonable notice.

10. Keeping your site running

  • We take reasonable care to keep your website online, secure and backed up, but we can't promise it will never be unavailable, for example during maintenance or a supplier's outage.
  • Your website is made of ready-built pages, so if a supplier we use for messages or AI has a problem, changes may be delayed but your website stays online.
  • We may change the servers and suppliers we use. Your website stays hosted in the UK, and our privacy notice is kept up to date (section 9 covers changes of supplier).
  • We may take down a page, or your whole website, straight away and without your YES if the law requires it, or if we receive a complaint about it that appears valid. We tell you why and what is needed to put it back.

11. Ending the agreement

You can stop any month. There is no minimum term and no fee for leaving.

  • Message CANCEL from the owner's number, or email hello@comerecommended.co.uk. We read it back and you reply YES.
  • Your website stays live until the end of the period you have paid for, or until your free period ends, and is then taken down.
  • When you leave, we send you one download of your website's words, photos and reviews, in a form you can use with any other web designer. Ask within 30 days of leaving if it hasn't arrived. Your web address is yours to take (section 7).
  • After that we delete your details as our privacy notice sets out, apart from the records the law requires us to keep.

We can end the agreement:

  • with at least 30 days' notice, for any reason;
  • straight away if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, for example by publishing something unlawful, trying to take over someone else's website, or abusing our team;
  • if a payment is still unpaid after 60 days (section 6).

If we end it with notice, we refund anything you have paid for the time after it ends.

12. Our responsibility to you

  • We never promise a number of enquiries, calls, customers or a position in Google. How many people contact you depends on many things outside our control.
  • We are not responsible for lost profits, lost business or lost enquiries, or for any indirect loss.
  • Our total responsibility to you in each contract year is limited to the greater of £500 or the amount you paid us in that contract year. A contract year is the 12 months from the day this agreement started, and each 12 months after that.
  • We are not responsible for material you supplied, confirmed or approved, including words you approved by replying YES. If someone makes a claim against us because that material was untrue, unlawful or not yours to use, you will cover our costs, damages and losses that result, unless the problem comes from something we added that you couldn't reasonably have known about (for example, wording our AI copied from someone else).
  • Nothing in these terms limits responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow to be limited.

13. Messages and notices

  • We contact you by WhatsApp, text or email. As a client you get service messages only: your monthly numbers, payment notices, and up to two requests for a review. Marketing only if you have ticked a separate box saying yes.
  • Our team replies Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Changes you confirm can go live at any time, and we don't send you anything late at night that can wait.
  • A message or email from the number or address you have registered with us counts as notice in writing, both ways.

14. Complaints and changes to these terms

  • To complain, email hello@comerecommended.co.uk or message PERSON. We acknowledge it within 2 working days and give you a full answer within 10 working days.
  • We may update these terms. For a change that affects you, we give at least 30 days' notice by message or email, and you can cancel before it applies. Changes the law requires may apply sooner.

15. The legal bits

  • We may transfer this agreement to another company that takes over Come Recommended, for example if it becomes a company of its own. You agree to that now. We will tell you before it happens, and your rights won't change. You need our agreement to transfer it, which we won't unreasonably refuse if you sell your business.
  • Neither of us is responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control.
  • If a court finds part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • These terms, together with your go-live page, are the whole agreement between us.
  • Sections 7, 8, 9 (for as long as we hold your customers' details), 11, 12 and 15, and any money owed, continue to apply after this agreement ends.
  • Nobody else has the right to enforce these terms.
  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute.
